Kick the Working-Parent Guilt to the Curb

This is week 44 of 52 Weeks of Self-Care.
Mommy, pleeeeease don't go. Ugh. I hate days like this. My child...or heaven forbid...my children join forces and want me—beg me—to stay home. And I want to! It's just not one of those days I can gloss over or work from home, and it pains me as we part ways. But it doesn't stop there. Oh no. Working-parent guilt is the guilt that keeps on giving. All. Day. Long. And by the time the end of the day rolls around, my kids have forgotten about our separation anxiety until the next unplanned-I-want-my-parent-NOW meltdown.
Thankfully my friend and cancer survivor, Jim Higley, has some lovely parenting advice and beautiful, laughable moments at the Bobblehead Dad blog. This particular post and radio segment had me in tears, encouraging me the entire way. Maybe you should check it out as well. You're doing a fine job, colleague, a fine job.
